I’ve decided that I’m going to start posting here whenever I feel like it, about whatever I happen to be thinking about for the day. Who cares if it’s not phenomenal writing? Who cares if my thoughts fly onto the page uncensored? I’ve been thinking a lot about what I write about and how much I enjoy writing and I’ve decided a few things. First of all, I need to stop comparing my writing to that of certain other authors I look up to. I’m a fairly average writer. I’d like to improve, of course, and I’ll continue to work on my skill, but when it comes to Edventuregirl, I’d like to be free to say what’s on my mind without stressing “the flow” too much. Second, I’d like to be far more honest about what I’m thinking. Don’t get me wrong, I have been completely honest with you all so far. I simply haven’t shared everything. And to be frank, I don’t intend to share absolutely everything from here out. Everyone has personal details that don’t belong online and I will never share my thoughts on the personal lives of my friends or family members. That said, I spend too much time thinking about whether my thoughts will fit with the travel and education side of Edventuregirl and not enough time connecting with you all as a real person. There so much I want to write about and choose not to because it might not be a “good fit” for this blog, or I worry that you may not be interested in it. Heck with that. Sit down and strap in, because from here out I’m going to write about whatever the heck I want to write about. It may be political. It may be personal. It may include swear words (not likely unless I’m in serious rant mode). It may be something I recently learned or something I want to ask you. It may even be a basic writing prompt. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy the transition. :)
Coming up, an account of my adventure to Washington DC to participate in the biggest protest in American history!
