Launching my first biz: VA Without Borders

VA Without Borders, virtual assistance, digital nomad, travelers,

Hey all!

So I know I’ve given you the silent treatment for about a month now. Will you forgive me if I say it’s for good reason? For one, I’ve been busy as heck with traveling, family time, and Semester 2 at Groningen University starting up again. But more than that, I’ve been using every second of spare time to finally launch a business idea that’s been rolling around in my head for about a year.

VA Without Borders: Virtual Assistance

The idea started around New Years 2017. I was sitting at my desk, writing up some goals and resolutions and ideas (yes, I’m THAT girl), and I realized I’d been providing online assistance work for about four years. I’d been through several clients already and had learned so much about building and maintaining websites, social media strategies, planning and research, and more. But I was still completely unprofessional. No business cards, no website, heck – no official name! I knew I’d be too busy to launch something professional for at least another year, what with my internship in Guatemala and subsequent move to Europe. But the gears were turning.

Fast forward to today: VA Without Borders launched almost two weeks ago today and already we have 4 clients on board with more on the way. I’ve already started to build a team of professional VAs to tackle any task our clients could have. To be honest with you, there are still some tweaks to be made on the website (we don’t have a Team page yet) and I’m scrambling to get it all together. The rate at which the project has taken off has blown me away.

Virtual assistance for: digital nomads, travelers, creative entrepreneurs

My passion has always been inspiring others to live the life of their dreams. VA Without Borders is built around that idea. Our ideal client is a passionate, innovative, self-driven adventurer who wants to spend more time focusing on their creative goals and less time doing online chores. In the past I’ve worked with traveling families, small business owners working from the back of their van, wealthy entrepreneurs traveling in style, and others as well. The idea is that we will provide the expertise and background work that will push these creative goals to the next level and allow more people to pursue their wildest dreams.

We have three service categories at the moment: social media, website management, & lifestyle assistance.

Social media and website management are pretty self-explanatory and you can check out the website for more information on those. Lifestyle assistance is where my passion for the job really shines through. This is where I’ll be coaching brand-new hatchling travelers and entrepreneurs, doing travel planning and project research, and taking big project ideas from concept to completion with the client. Woot! Can’t wait to get started.

  1. Looks like you’re already well on your way. But if you decided you need to improve your marketing skills, I highly recommend the Duct Tape Management System self-study course. They have some great worksheets to help you identify everything from your ideal client, to your value proposition, to your communication plan. You pay them a low fee for as long as you need access to the course.
